Why did my Ecostrad iQ WiFi Heating Element cut out when used in the open air or inside an empty radiator?

The iQ element must be fully submerged in the heating medium (fluid) during operation. Switching the element on in an empty radiator or in open air will cause it to cease functioning. The unit must be replaced.
